Opportunity: AI-Drive Cybersecurity Misrepresentation

Opportunity Number:

ARL-SRP-00038

Opportunity Location:

Austin, TX

Opportunity Description:

Modern cybersecurity analysts face an unsustainable volume of high-dimensional telemetry and alert fatigue, creating critical operational delays. This project addresses the core research question: How can advanced artificial intelligence be systematically integrated into cyber defensive workflows to automate routine triage, reduce analytical friction, and optimize response posture without compromising operational security? The primary objective is to design, implement, and benchmark an intelligent automation framework that ingests heterogeneous security logs, applies predictive modeling to prioritize threats, and streamlines critical analytical workflows for defensive operators.

The participant will actively investigate workflow bottlenecks, design robust data processing pipelines, and train task-specific machine learning models for anomaly detection, automated triage, and incident summarization. Utilizing methods and tools including Python, modern ML/LLM frameworks, SIEM/SOAR interfaces, and containerization platforms, the participant will integrate algorithmic decision support into live or simulated environments. The expected deliverables include a functional software prototype, a comprehensive technical evaluation report detailing system latency and threat triage efficacy, and deployment-ready documentation for mission stakeholders.
