Opportunity: Multidomain Aware Maneuver and RF Transmission for Multi-Robot Teams
Opportunity Number:
ARL-SRP-00082
Opportunity Location:
Adelphi, MD
Opportunity Description:
Multi-agent/Multi-robot systems operate in increasingly sophisticated, contested electromagnetic (EM) environments where these systems are easily detected and localized. Simultaneously, these environments are physically complex and difficult to autonomously navigate. The objective of this project is to develop a novel set of approaches that jointly optimize radio-frequency transmissions, retransmissions (through strategically placed reconfigurable intelligent surfaces), and maneuver trajectories of multi-agent systems to reduce detectable signature.
Participants will contribute to designing control policies that model the complex, multi-agent battlefield as a cooperative-competitive game-theoretic problem. Rather than relying solely on heuristic-based planning and/or reinforcement learning, the work may also focus on utilizing advanced Game Theory to solve for mathematically optimal policies that guarantee mission performance. Participants will develop algorithms for autonomous problem decomposition and explore how strategic relaxations of spatial-temporal mission
Expected Deliverables• Evaluated software prototypes and simulation models.
• Technical reports outlining algorithmic performance and scalability for publication at tier 1 conferences.
• A presentation at the ARL Summer Student Symposium.
By participating in this project, you will help bridge the gap between abstract distributed systems theory and real-world, edge-native resilience, directly advancing the foundational science of tactical cyber-physical systems.
